Short description & land use (current/history)

The mountain range is orientated in the northwest-southeast direction. The elevations of the ridges are around 2000-3200 m above sea level. Continuous and isolated permafrost underlies the area of the mountains. Main land use - livestock grazing.

Vegetation boundary lines

In the higher parts of the Khangai alpine vegetation occurs, followed downslope by coniferous forest, forest-steppe and mountain-steppe.
