The GLORIA Database

The GLORIA global database serves as a central repository for data collected across the various target regions (sites) using the Multi-Summit approach. The purpose of this database is to consolidate data in a standardized format, facilitating comprehensive analyses and cross-regional comparisons. Maintaining long-term data consistency is essential to minimize future challenges related to data integration and restructuring.

The GLORIA coordination team validates species data to identify synonyms and variations in naming across regions and surveys. Consistent species naming across regions is crucial for analyses that involve data from multiple sources.

The GLORIA Web Application

As a core team member of a GLORIA site, you have access to our internal web application, which supports the following functions:

  • Managing users, regions, institutions, and a global species list.
  • Entering regional data, including metadata, plot data, regional species lists, and temperature data.
  • Viewing and downloading data.
  • Correcting data.

The web application includes built-in tools to minimize data errors. Multiple consistency checks are applied when entering new data to reduce potential inaccuracies. When adding new species, names are automatically validated against our global species and synonym lists to flag potential synonyms.
