GLOBAL OBSERVATION RESEARCH INITIATIVE IN ALPINE ENVIRONMENTS

The GLORIA Master Site Schrankogel, Stubaier Alpen, Tyrol, Austria

Nighttime temperature is one of the key factors for plant growth in high mountains. Measured in the early summer period (June-July), alpine species on Schrankogel show an optimum higher than 2°C, while nival species persist at lower temperatures (1 to 2 °C).
